Let’s talk hats for a minute. As a photographer, I hate when guys wear hats to engagement sessions. As a wife, I TOTALLY get it. I can’t tell you how many times a girl has come up to me and said, “he doesn’t like to take off his hat, so I told him he could wear it”. Trust me, I get it. Guys, we love you and we even love your hats, so let’s make a deal? If you love your hat, wear it for half of the session – the second half, that way you don’t have that crazy hat hair.

Here’s the biggest reason why… every single time you go to kiss your soon to be wife, your hat covers her face.

So, for all of those super romantic photos that you two will cherish, you can’t even see her face. BUT, I get it. Cole rarely takes his hat off, so years ago, I made the deal with him that he could wear his hat in half of the photos. Because as a wife, I want him to cherish those photos as much as I do, and realistically, he will love them more if he’s wearing his hat. Most guys are so understanding and will say something like “I can take it off if you want”, which is exactly what Nathan said. So I went ahead and let him keep it on for one and showed him what it looked like on the back of my camera and, as you’ll see when you scroll down, he could definitely tell what I was talking about! He was so great and let me do as many pictures without the hat as I wanted, and isn’t that really what every wife hopes for in a husband? Nathan, I can already tell you’re going to be a great husband and you can already tell Kandace will be a great wife because she wants Nathan to cherish the photos just as much! Plus, just look at all of the joy in these pictures… Definitely one of my favorite couples!
